Kindergarten

Kindergarten 1

5 – 6 years

Teacher-to-child ratio: 1 to 15
Our Kindergarten Programs are structured as Full-Day and Half-Day childcare options.

At Kindergarten 1, we focus on building confidence, self-esteem and strengthening the academic foundation through the A-S-K framework.

A (Attitude) – Children acquire positive leaning attitudes and problem solving skills. They learn to be a team player and know how to regulate their emotion positively when facing difficulty or failure. They learn how to think flexibly, evaluate options and be persistence in pursuing their goals. Good virtues and values take root through daily reminders from teachers, practices in school and the understanding of the Chinese teachings through “Di Zi Gui” ( 弟子规)

S (Skills) – Kindergarten 1 children are keen learners and always like to ask questions. Through the project inquiry investigations, they will hone scientific skills such as predicting, observing, estimating, measuring, comparing and fact finding. During the course of investigation, they will not be given answers or solutions right away but instead will be guided to go through the thinking, questioning and data collecting process to find answers for themselves, and evaluate their own successes or failures.

K (Knowledge) – We strengthen academic fundamentals by exposing children to the necessary concepts and knowledge they will eventually need in Primary 1. Beyond exposure to basic language mastery and key mathematical concepts, we offer a variety of in-curriculum alongside optional enrichment programs. Our in-curriculum programs encompass programs like English Speech and Drama, Chinese Speech and Drama, Sportball, Chinese Grammar, Science Alive, Busy Baker, Arty Crafty, Life Skills, among others. We also offer optional programs like Mind Mapping, Creative Arts, Creative Writing, and Swimming. All these programs give our children ample opportunities to find out their strengths and passions while having fun!

Kindergarten 2

6 – 7 years

Teacher-to-child ratio: 1 to 15

K2 children are our graduating stars. Our Kindergarten 2 program provides curriculum materials and experiences that put the finishing touches to a young Mulberrian’s preschool journey. Armed with years of guidance and knowledge gathering, our children are now academically ready, confident, courteous, sociable and with a positive attitude towards learning and life.

At the end of Kindergarten 2, our children have completed their language and numeracy training, amassing a good range of skills and knowledge to prepare them for Primary School. They have amassed a good range of vocabulary, are able to read story books, write, and speak in complete sentences to express their thoughts and feelings. They are also confident enough to speak in front of the class and actively contribute ideas during group discussions. They are knowledgeable, especially in topics related to the projects which they had done in-depth study and exploration in – enjoying the fruits of their labour. They know how and where to find information to satisfy their curiosity and how to make observations or draw conclusions from their findings.  They have acquired ways to ask questions, solve problems, think out of the box and work as a team.

They have been exposed to and lived the Habits of Mind. This is reflected in their character or thinking habits. For example, they have good self-esteem, they have a positive self image, they are thoughtful, they love learning and they have good self-control. These dispositions will stay with them for life.

We also bring our Kindergarten 2 children on a special bridging program to ease them into Primary School life. This includes:

  • Visits to a primary school to give them a taste of primary school life, interact with Primary School children and patronize the canteens.
  • “Current affairs” sessions to expand their social awareness and knowledge of the real world.
  • Practical mathematics like dealing with money, fractions, division and multiplication, etc.
  • Reinforcement of comprehension skills and practices in spelling and homework management.
