What is Habits Of Mind™?

Habits of Mind™ is about knowing how to behave intelligently and respond effectively to uncertainty or dilemmas. It provides children of all ages a framework for autonomous learning, critical thinking and effective inquiry. These habits are introduced to the child by infusing it into the curriculum and delivered through daily lessons and activities.

The Habits of Mind™ framework is incorporated into the Ministry of Education’s Gifted Education Programme.

FACT #2

Being the only preschool in Singapore to infuse the Habits of Mind™ framework into its curriculum, Mulberry Learning is also the first to provide an assessment platform called “The Habits of Mind Assessment Tool (THOMAS)” to measure and analyze the development of these habits in the child. With THOMAS, educators and parents will have access to a report that provides greater insight into the growth of these intelligent habits in the child.

Listening with Understanding & Empathy is one of the 12 specially curated Habits of Mind™ infused into Mulberry Learning’s curriculum. Sometimes the loudest conversations are silent ones. Good listeners are able to see through the lens of many different perspectives and demonstrate their understanding of and empathy for another’s idea or feeling by paraphrasing it accurately, building upon it, clarifying it, or giving an example of it.

Managing Impulsivity

Managing Impulsivity is one of the 12 specially curated Habits of Mind™ infused into Mulberry Learning’s curriculum. It means being able to give yourself time to evaluate a situation, think through possible options and not make hasty decisions. Managing Impulsivity is a habit we all should master!

    Opened in March 2020, our new Kallang centre is located at the Water Sports Centre of the Kallang Sports Hub development. This standalone building is located conveniently near Kallang Wave Mall and Singapore Indoor Stadium, and it is just a short stroll from the Circle Line Stadium MRT station.

    This new centre will offer both infant care (2 to 17 months) and preschool (18 months to 6 years) programmes to families living in the area, and children will also benefit from the spacious outdoor play areas immediately outside the centre as well as the well-appointed facilities of the Sports Hub.

    With this new setup, we’re excited to offer our award-winning programmes like Habits of MindTM and Reggio-inspired Project InquiryTM to more families living in the East, and to nurture more future-ready children!

    As a Reggio-Emilia inspired preschool, Mulberry Learning @ Kallang is equipped with various learning corners that serve as tools for experiential learning, giving Mulberrians the chance to focus their attention on what interests them, whilst at the same time teaching them new lessons in the process. Learning stations throughout the centre offer numerous opportunities for creative thinking and exploration, providing children with opportunities to learn from each other with teachers facilitating the process.
